About NEF

Nepal Economic Forum (NEF) is a not for profit organization aiming to be Nepal's premier private sector led economic policy and research institution. Established in 2009, NEF seeks to re-define the economic development discourse in Nepal and positively transform Nepal's economic and development policies.

NEF's mission is to engage in research, analysis and information dissemination to ultimately shape national agendas through partnerships. NEF stands out in being able to make significant strides in terms of bringing the private sector perspective as well as engaging with both, public and private sectors in the development discourse. NEF is currently a recipient of the Open Society Foundations' Think Tank Fund.

NEF broadly works under three areas:

The Business Policy Research Center (BPRC)

The Business Policy Research Center (BPRC) engages in research, dialogue and dissemination relating to pertinent economic policy issues. BPRC has been producing nefport and nefsearch which are quarterly economic publications, conducting neftalk; a platform for policy discourse, and releasing nefcast and neftake; our video and in house.

NEF actively engages with diplomatic missions and multilateral donors, provides input and analysis on decisions, and reaches out to key decision makers, leveraging the extensive information and database that the organization has acquired over time.

Center for Public, Private and Community Partnerships (PPCP)

Through the center NEF takes the partnerships discourse further through the addition of the community dimension to existing models of public private partnerships. Apart from standalone interventions, the PPCP perspective is integrated in the work that NEF and beed initiate.

Activities of the Center range from research to developing productive, inclusive, and sustainable models for private-public-community partnerships at federal, state, and community levels.

beed devCon

NEF operates in the domain of development consulting through its devCon division. Through this division NEF engages with a plethora of multilateral, bilateral and International Non-Governmental Organizations in areas where a fresh pair of lenses are required to view the formulation and implementation of strategies. NEF's key areas of work include policy research, economic analysis, value chain analysis, enterprise development, sectoral studies and public private dialogue.

Among other things, NEF helps these organizations craft proposals, design implementing strategies, conduct events and plan out sustainable budgets. NEF also oversees implementations, allocation of funds and ensures transparency in spending.
