Internships & Fellowships

As part of NEF’s mission to create opportunities to learn, train and grow with NEF, the organization welcomes application for its three-month internship program and a one-year fellowship program. Our interns and fellows possess critical thinking skills, grit and a passion for conducting data-driven research on various economic and political issues.

The internship and fellowship program at NEF allow talented and driven young graduates to participate in research and contribute to the analysis of various NEF projects and assignments.

Description

Our internship, a 3-to-6-month program, ideal for gaining hands-on experience of working at a development think-tank and global management consulting firms with offices in Nepal and Rwanda. The internship is for those who are passionate about bringing social impact and committed to drawing actionable recommendations for complicated economic issues. Interns will have a chance to work on diverse projects and assignments, spread across various verticals of Beed Management and Nepal Economic Forum. Interns also get to work alongside an esteemed body of NEF Board Members and Senior Fellows who are part of the community in in recognition of their work and achievements in economics, politics, sustainability and more.

Interns get a chance to

  • Publish Neftakes (short form blogs) 2-4 times.
  • Contribute to the development of Nefsearch (research papers) and Nefport (economics journals).
  • Provide support in organizing high profile events (seminars, panel discussions, etc.) and prepare outreach collaterals for dissemination.
  • Great networking opportunities
    • At high profile events for the global organizations, both nationally and internationally.
    • A strong alumni network who are engaged with some of the most prestigious companies across the world.
  • Support project supervisors on evidence-based projects and received feedback.
  • Be a part of the passionate community of innovative problem solvers who know how to get work done while enjoying Friday lunches, company retreats, ice cream breaks, post office catch-ups, and more.

Who is this for

Internship period: 3 to 6 months, 3 months is the minimum commitment.

Internship period every year:

  • Spring batch: April to September
  • Fall batch: September to March

*The fellow is responsible for their international tickets, all other expenses will be taken care by the organization

Who is this for

Fellowship period: 12 months

Intake period every year:

  • 1st batch: April-May
  • 2nd batch: September-October

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Social Sciences, Management, or related fields.
  • Proven verbal and written communication skills in English. Conversational Nepali will be advantageous.
  • Strong research and organizational skills.
  • Flexible, self-motivating, able to manage multiple tasks efficiently, and a team player.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Word, PowerPoint and Excel).
  • Previous research or volunteering experience will be an advantage.
