This session delved into discussions to realize Nepal’s potential towards a circular economy and inform on the extent to which its core principles- recycle, reuse and reduce have been practiced. This session further highlighted some of the existing best practices and provided recommendations for mainstreaming circular economy in the nation.

As part of its new initiative Himalayan Circular Economy Forum (HiCEF), Nepal Economic Forum (NEF) organized a round table discussion on 29 August 2019 with various stakeholders to gain insights on this fostering economic system and its translation in Nepal. The key themes of the discussion were: Introduction to Circular Economy, Circular Economy in Nepal and HiCEF in the coming days.

This session focused on the renewable energy sector of Nepal and highlighted discussions on its capacity to produce and supple renewable energy across borders.

This discussion sought to understand the opportunities and challenges of using renewable energy from the users’ perspective. It helped to interpret the demand of renewable energy in the regional market; whether or not the communities and large-scale consumers such as industries in Bihar and Nepal have the tendency and potential to shift to renewable energy.

Closing the export gap and ensuring sustained growth is still a major question for the countries in South Asia. The neftalk, thus, focused on finding ways to plug the widening trade gap in the region with exclusive recommendations for Nepal.

The publication provides insights on business climate in Nepal under the new federated structure. It aims to provide baseline information on economic indicators of the provinces that will help the investors compute and compare the prospects of business climate across the provinces.
