In a series of debates designed to stimulate thinking and get the ideas flowing, the French Embassy, Nepal Economic Forum and the Alliance Française came together for the 5th session of Linkfest which focused on “Facing our Time” to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the diplomatic relationships between France and Nepal.

The 37th Neftalk focused on observing problems with the lens of opportunities in federated Nepal, the role of public sector in developing a conducive environment for private sector, and precondition to increasing foreign direct investment to Nepal for achieving middle income status.

Ambassador Alaina Teplitz arrived in Nepal in October 2015 and has been one of the prolific diplomats traveling around the country, sharing thought through op-eds and an active social media presence. Nepal Economic Forum organized a Neftalk to reflect on her experience during her tenure and share learnings, both challenges and potential.

Nepal Economic Forum organized a Neftalk based on a book, “Death of an industry:  The Cultural Politics of Garment manufacturing During the Maoist Revolution” that studies the relationship between turmoil of the garment industry and the People’s War in Nepal. It revisits hoe the expiry of MFA led to a major polotico-economic reshuffling in Nepal.

Himalayan Consensus Summit 2018 brought together pioneers, business and financial leaders across the Himalayan region to forge pragmatic ways to local challenges. The Summit had the main objectives of monitoring commitments that were announced in HCS 2017 and building a platform for connectivity discourse to foster regional connection through sources such as air, water, energy, land and technology.
